Halle Berry has a lot of accolades to her name: beloved actress, Academy Award winner, hard-working mother. But she has also added sci-fi heroine to her repertoire.

The second season of CBS’ Extant is coming July 1, and I’m considering catching up on the last season (which I couldn’t keep track of due to everything else I was watching) to watch the second season and be a part of the Extant nation. The show’s got everything I love in sci-fi and have wanted to see in the genre: a non-white female lead, androids trying to find their place in humanity, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, space travel, aliens, and a discourse about what it means to be human. In short: I need to start watching the show STAT.
