This week’s MOC Monday is Randall Park! Thank goodness we’ll be able to see him again now that we know Fresh Off the Boat is coming back! WHOO! More on this and other TV news later. (I have a lot of catching up to do because I’ve been on the move.)
I remember seeing Park in commercials before his big movie break in The Interview. Interestingly enough, it seems like his latest projects are always mired in some sort of controversy; with The Interview, it was about the Sony hack and whether or not the film would actually create a huge political and military catastrophe for the US since there were threats of theater bombings by hackers. Now, Fresh Off the Boat is mired in controversy, but not because of the show itself; all of the controversy comes from Eddie Huang, who has revealed himself to be, to be frank, a thorn in the side of his own TV success. (More on this later as well.)
No matter what though, Park is making his mark on television and in movies, and let’s hope we see him around even more. I’ll end this with one of the best moments from Fresh Off the Boat, when he thought back to the time he and his college friend Oscar dressed as WHAM! for Halloween and realized that he was actually in a relationship with him and didn’t realize it because he thought they were being cheap together.
