There’s not much of an introduction I need to do for this. E.L.pa James, the writer of the oft-derided Fifty Shades of Grey series had a Twitter Q&A. Somehow, her PR team thought this was a fantastic idea, but as the #AskThicke team figured out all too late, talking to Twitter was the worst thing James could ever do.
Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a spider can…or what Marvel tells him to do. It would seem Marvel’s had a huge hand in what Spider-Man can do in the movies, and what he can’t. Marvel also has allegedly stated who Spider-Man can and can’t be.
Daniel José Older is an author you need to know if you’re a lover of sci-fi and fantasy novels. Older is the author of the Bone Street Rumba, series; the first part, Half-Resurrection Blues is already available for purchase. Also exciting is the news that hit earlier this year; Anika Noni Rose has optioned the TV and film rights to Half-Resurrection Blues, which will bring an even more diverse and richer aspect to fantasy entertainment.
I was excited to speak to Older about his writing, how his past life as a paramedic influenced his work, and how literature should provide the answers it needs to people who are in crisis, especially children. Stay on the lookout for his upcoming young adult book, Shadowshaper, as well as his short story on Tor.com; information is below.
Harry Potter character Draco Malfoy is an amazing character. He’s one of those characters who are racist, growing up in a household where certain “ideals” are taught, but soon realize how terrible their minds have been when the real world gets dropped on them. Draco had that happen to him in spades, and for years, I liked to think he was better for it. But J.K. Rowling had denied me that pleasure in canon. Until now. Through Pottermore (which you need a login for), she finally shared the rest of Draco’s story.
