2018 was a big year for BTS. The group experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. But it would seem that the group is starting 2019 off on the right foot with a brand new product deal with Mattel!

According to the toy company, BTS dolls will soon be on the market by this summer. Here’s the full press release:

Mattel, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAT) announced today at the Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair a comprehensive, worldwide licensing agreement with BTS (acronym for Bangtan Sonyeondan or “Beyond the Scene”), the seven-member South Korean boy band taking the world by storm.

Under this multi-category license with BTS under its label, Big Hit Entertainment, Mattel will create dolls, collectible figures, games, and more. In the wake of sold out tours across the globe, the collaboration launches this summer with a first-ever BTS-inspired toy line created around the likenesses of the band’s seven members: RM, Jin, SUGA
, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook.

The dolls will be fashioned in the looks from the BTS’ iconic and YouTube record-breaking “IDOL” music video.

“BTS is a pop-culture music phenomenon that transcends age, culture and language, and through this partnership, Mattel will offer a new way for millions across the world to engage with the band,” said Sejal Shah Miller, SVP & Global Brand GM for Mattel. “Partnering with established franchises that have global appeal is a cornerstone of our strategy and given our creative expertise, we are perfectly suited to create products celebrating BTS.”

This is a very good way for BTS to start the year, and I’m highly intrigued to see how these dolls look. I’ve been on a YouTube binge, watching videos from the doll community. After seeing so many doll collectors’ reviews and doll repaints from talented artists, I’m very excited to see how the YouTube doll community will receive these dolls.

Since the dolls were once just a figment in people’s imaginations, folks have been creating their own BTS-related doll accessories, such as My Froggy Stuff’s BTS doll pillows and doll room:

Also, doll artist Hextian has created his own V doll:
