Sad days–Selfie, the ABC comedy starring John Cho and Karen Gillan in a modern-day retelling of Pygmalion, has been cancelled.
To be honest, the show was one of the new shows already on the chopping block before cancellations even began. But still, I–like most people–wanted the show to succeed because of fan favorite John Cho. The show made waves for casting an Asian-American male in a romantic lead role (stereotypically given to white actors even though actors of any race could be a romantic lead role). Cho himself has talked at length about breaking this glass ceiling to news outlets. But still, the series was too weak, and it’s a real shame.
On the bright side, perhaps Cho can come back to Sleepy Hollow as Andy? Fingers crossed.
